AbstractAfter the free election 1993, the economic and social situation in Cambodia is improved a lot. The government has created "Open Door Policy" to promote foreign direct investment in all the sectors. The investment law was created to facilitate the investment in Cambodia for local as well as the foreign investor. Up to now we have 977 companies invested in Cambodia with total capital investment around US $ 6,2 billion. At the moment, only 444 of these companies are active companies, 318 companies are non-active companies and 82 companies are non-monitored. Joint Venture is the new fo1m of foreign investment that is very efficient means to access to the new market for the foreign investors. Joint Venture is not very popular in Cambodia both with the private companies as well as with the government. Nowadays, we have around 40 Joint Venture companies. Some of them are in good operation and some of them faced some difficulties after establishment. We are going to study the problems that they are facing in operation as well as in establishment and will provide recommendations for the new foreign investors as well as local partners. Recommendations also will be provided to the government in order to promote foreign investment.
