AbstractThe Department of Accelerated Rural Development (ARD) is an official organization who has the responsibility for planning, constructing, managing and maintaining infrastructures in the rural areas of Thailand. Due to the maintenance budget limitation, ARD has developed the Road Maintenance Management System (RMS) to manage their roads. ARD is currently starting to plan and collect their road inventory data and its condition data. However, the prioritization of RMS ranks their roads solely based on the collected road condition. This research modifies the existing prioritization by applying the Composite Index (Cl) concept. The developed prioritization is called Priority Index (Pl). The overall priority index is the sum of rating values from rating score assignment and their weight factors obtained from the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The developed priority index is based on factors that concerned for road maintenance selection such as road class, road type and condition, social aspect, and maintenance cost. To obtain all data, the questionnaire survey is designed to ask ARD's engineers and practitioners. In addition, the maintenance planning applications of the developed priority index are presented in this study.
