AbstractIn a specific factory, there may be many performance measures of interest, such as, the makespan, the mean flow time or the number of tardy jobs. There are also many dispatching rules that can be applied to reach such objectives. However, each rule can usually satisfy only one objective as the first priority. When taking those objectives into consideration, it is, therefore, required for users to choose one target to focus on. This thesis proposes a way to use fuzzy logic to build aggregated rules to obtain a compromise between satisfactions of several criteria. In the proposed algorithm, many performance measures and many dispatching rules are considered and a proper fuzzy relation between the dispatching rules and the performance measures are constructed. In addition, the dynamic characteristic of job shop scheduling problem is also considered. Experiments have been carried out using simulation technique to test the proposed scheduling algorithm.
