Abstract | This research determines the optimum method and conditions for improving the surface quality of the Gamma nail to prevent the conosion by using the electrochemical polishing process. In the electrochemical polishing process, there are three parameters, (1) Electrical Voltage (2) Electrolyte Temperature and (3) Time. This process creates a passive film on the stainless steel surface to prevent the corrosion. This study starts with design of the experiment, prepare the samples, run the electrochemical polishing in difference conditions and test the corrosion of the samples and compare with the mechanical polishing. The result shows that the passive film of the mechanical polishing sample is weaker than the passive film of the electrochemical polished samples. The result shows that electrochemical polishing is needed for increasing the corrosion protection. |
