Abstract | A new algorithm based on the sweep plane algorithm and minimax test algorithm to detect the collisions in five-axis machine is presented. The method to create the 3D geometric model on OpenGL environment through reading the STL data file is proposed. A simulation program for collision detection using Visual C++ language and OpenGL is implemented. The simulation is done by transforming the geometric model according to statements in the NC program. Verification for the possible collisions is carried out by checking any intersection between the 2D polygons that obtain through slicing the bodies of the machine by sweep planes. The algorithm is inherently extremely robust and efficient. The accuracy of the algorithm can be varied as a function of the requirements. |
