AbstractThis study concerns with discrete-event simulation for flexible manufacturing system, especially in the area of advanced material handling. It is started by designing the system and targeted to the identification of the new model. It considers the load flow, process, layout and data manipulation. The model of conceptual design is built so that experimental output can be considered by AutoMod simulation analysis. As the usual designing complex systems, the real-world system under investigation is abstracted by a conceptual model, which is a series of mathematical and logical relationships concerning the components and the structure of the system. Firstly, the model was built for just the material handling. Then, added the basic process system. Next, added the resource cycle, and the final is for special features. Thus, conceptual systems can be modeled for simulation before implementing the actual design. Verification and validation ensure that the simulation model is an accurate representation of the actual system. Although the simulation is not self-optimizing, it is used to evaluate the effects of different control strategies, scheduling priority rules and attribute requirements of each entity.
