Abstract | The electrical power system is one of the main parts of the nation's infrastructure. The availability and cost of electricity are critical factors in industrial competitiveness and developments. Power system primary emphasis is to provide their customers a reliable and economic supply of electrical energy. Generation and networks facilities have to be adequate to ensure acceptable continuous reliable supply along with the removal of facilities for regular scheduled maintenance. Distribu tion system planning is vital for electric power utilities. The objective of distribution system planning is to sure that a growth in demand for electricity can be satisfied in an optimal way by additional distribution systems, which are both technically adequate and reasonably economical. All the alternatives in distribution system planning should be evaluated carefully in aspects of technical as well as economical. Electric utilities always need to consider optimal ways to reduce the power losses, improve voltage quality and reliability in their distribution networks, but investment costs are also minimized. To solve the above problems, utilities can install capacitor banks or substitution of old conductors by larger cross-section conductors, or add more feeders to make loop circu its to the existing networks. In addition, higher voltage level can be also adopted for the system. In the possible alternatives, the utilities need to analysis and compare them by technical and economical criteria. The alternative, which meets the technical, environmental constraints with better financial criteria, should be selected. In this study, PSS-ADEPT software is used to calculate power flow of primary feeders of Thainguyen city distribution network. Three different scenarios were studied and analyzed in this thesis. Each scenario consists of two phases, i.e. phase I (2003-2005) and phase II (2006-2010). A de tail financial analysis was carried out to compare these scenarios using EXCEL software. Results obtained from financial analysis are basis for recommendation of optimal alternative. |
