AbstractIn this thesis, the short-term hydrothermal coordination with planning horizon ranging from one day to one week is used to minimize the total generator fuel cost of thennal units of the Vietnamese power system, subject to hydrological constraints of the hydro power plants and operational constraints of the thermal power plants. The short-te1m hydrothermal coordination is solved by LINGO optimization software, which is based on branch-and-bound method for solving mixed integer linear programming. The solution obtained from LINGO software results in lower total cost than that obtained from GAMS optimization software based on branch-and-bound and cutting plane for solving mixed integer programming, leading to a substantial fuel cost savings.
