AbstractThis study deals with establishment and operation of an Aerobic Membrane Bioreactor (AMBR) using aeration tank and polysulphon tubular membrane as solid/liquid separation unit for the treatment of chlorinated organic wastewater. In the pilot-scale experiment, 100 liters aeration tank and 0.2 m2 tubular membrane operated as cross flow type were used. Real industrial wastewater was fed continuously 17 Lid, 33 Lid and 100 Lid that mean hydraulic retention time (HRT) were 6 days, 3 days and 1 day, respectively. It was found that effluent COD is still high due to low COD removal efficiency. Beside this, the system can not remove total suspended solid and total dissolved solid. This study indicated that Organic Loading Rate (OLR) does not affect to conductivity, total dissolved solid and suspended solid of effluent. However, high OLR effect to increase temperature in reactor, effluent pH and biomass in aeration tank. On the other hand, low OLR lead to low COD removal efficiency. Average COD removal efficiency at HRT 6 days, 3 days and 1 day are 38.25 %, 40.26 % and 58.79 %, respectively. 111
