Abstract | The purpose of this research is to study the contribution of the tourism industry in Thailand sustainable development. As tourism is the prime generator sector in Thailand's economy and as it covers life of majority of Thai people and communities, it seems to be an important factor to deal with. Moreover, Thailand, as many developing countries changed in numerous areas its agrarian based activity to commercial and services industries. It was an important step to the globalization but it was also brave to take this tum. Tourism sector depends mainly from international customers, even if the local tourist market is currently increasing. The ecotourism is not new in the Kingdom but it is envisaged as one of the best solution to sustain the economic and environment development of the country. Thailand does not want to lose its cultural and tradition landmarks but it has to be more and more competitive to properly involve in the global market. However as we can see in this case study, ecotourism is not yet completely mastered and needs much more improvements to overcome the problems. |
