Abstract | Toyota Motor Thailand was established to serve its parent company, Toyota Motor Corporation as the assembler of Toyota vehicles. Throughout its four decades of operation, the parent company has gradually increases the innovative capabilities of its TMT through the transfer of teclmologies and knowledge. Lessening the Teclmology gap between TMT and TMC was achieved when the project Solw1a was initiated. This project was proven to be a success in collaboration strategy between TMT and TMC. The capabilities, which TMT has obtained, are enabling the company to be in greater degree of involvement in car developments. The competencies of TMT were explored by discovering the innovativeness of the company through product listing and R&D. However, due to limitation in teclmology and R&D, TMT is unable to develop the vehicles completely from ground up. Toyota Technical Center Asia Pacific Thailand is the next challenge for TMT. After the establishment of TTCAP, TMT will design, test and evaluate new models and new versions of existing cars. The capabilities which TMT has obtained throughout its operation will enable TMT to take on this challenge. |
