AbstractThis thesis explained, generally, why women earn less than men, taking a case of AIT Thai alumni . .It tested the human capital theories and hypothesis that state women earn less than men due to their loose labor force attachment, low incentives and human capitals than the comparable men. A survey has conducted on AIT Thai alumni who graduated before 1993, using mail questionnaires. A total of 213 responses (a response rate of 28%) collected; out of them 59 are women. The study found that the professional women's labor force attachment is as firm as men. After controlling all measurable differences on human capital variables and other wage determining characteristics among women and men professionals, the study found about twenty-five percents of the gender-earning gap left unexplained. It attributed the unexplained gender-earning gap to discrimination in the labor market.
