AbstractThe ultimate beating capacity of the footing with annular shape of base is investigated. In the case of annular footing, the influence of intermediate principal stress and the inter action of the failure zone in inner space of fooling are discussed as main influence factors. The equilibrium condition with pe1fect plasticity of Mohr-Coulomb type is derived in axi-symmetiical condition, and the equation was interpreted in slip line method, and numetical calculation method is presented. Through a series of parametric calculations with vatiable soil strength parameters, such as cohesion and internal friction angle, charts are prepared for the dete1mination of modified beating capacity coefficients. The evaluation method for the ultimate bea1ing capacity of annular footing is velified with the expetimental results, that is the laboratory model loading tests on the footings placed on cohesionless foundation soil.
