Abstract | Nowadays, the most advanced and modern automation technologies with a lot of remarkable advantages have been applied very popularly for many various fields in industry in order to improve productivity, reduce production expenses ... as well as substitute the human role in dangerous fields such as chemistry, electricity, petroleum etc. Programmable Logic Controller is a digitally operating system, designed for application in industrial environment which offers unique advantages for the operation and maintenance of manufacturing processes, assembly lines, treatment systems, etc. Distributed Control System offers unique advantages in the areas of information handling and high-speed networking. It is expected to be the real-time component of manufacturing facility's enterprise management and control system. An integrated control system can apply both PLC and DCS technologies to combine all their advantages in which can constitute totally integrated automation in industry that lead to large socio-economic advantages. This study is concerned with the application of programmable logic controller and distributed control system for existing chlorine injection systems in thermal power plants by using PCS7 software as if a case study. An example operating chlorine system is studied and analyzed thoroughly. Main functional modules of PCS7 software: SIMATIC Manager, WinCC, hardware configurations and simulation are studied to apply for this system as an automatic control model of some chemical treatment systems. |
