AbstractThe objective of this study is to investigate the actual capabilities of simulation software and survey a direction for developing a modular tool for modeling JIT manufacturing. The model can be used as a tool to identify and modify factors that affect the success of implementing JIT system. In this paper, a model simulation is built for a generic manufacturing and assembly Just-In-Time system based on SIGMA software with flexible factors such as maximum job, maximum machine group, size of a container, and specified quantities of empty containers go to stock to withdraw full containers depends on type of manufacturing. Besides, the number of container of components/ jobs at buffer and store of machine group can be estimated by the model. Experiment is implemented under 3 scenarios to illustrate its capabilities. The simulation model is converted to a modularized simulation library program th.rough HYPERSIM, which is a newly developed library and available as open source software. It is discussed some investigation for developing a modular tool for Just-In-Time manufacturing system
