Abstract | In the present, the people's main problem is no enough time to do tasks, so reducing routine tasks is one of solutions. Cleaning is a routine task that a mobile robot, instead of people, can do; therefore, this progress report shows what problems of vacuum cleaning with a robot are, why the robot is suitable for vacuum cleaning task and what the methodologies for achieving the problems are. The first part of making a vacuum cleaning robot is mobile-robot control. For this pati, a Pioneer 2 robot is utilized, and how the robot work, how a program is loaded to the Pioneer 2 and how the Pioneer 2 is interfaced with a camera for detecting garbage and both sonar and bumping sensors for collision avoidance are the main study objectives for the first pati. The second part is algorithms making path planning and localization for cleaning. Coverage algorithms are implemented for what is the optimization way that robot should thoroughly move over a close area. The third part is how to apply a camera with a mobile robot for detecting garbage. Furthermore, a vacuum cleaner is attached with the robot to experiment the autonomous vacuum cleaning robot in a room or area. |
