Abstract | The thesis demonstrates the design of a smartcard through concepts of CRC (cyclic redundancy check), DES (data encryption standard), state machines of cards, ASC (authentication state control) and UART (universal asynchronous receiver/ transmitter). Then, the knowledge was used to design and implement the circuits on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). Three types of the sma11card used in the study example include GemCombi/Gate, GemEasy 8000, GemEasy 300. It was difficult to tap into the digital pa11 of sma11card. The Gemplus smartcard application was designed for using and setting up of the smartcard. The thesis demonstrated the designs of the proprieta1y smartcard as close to the Gemplus system as possible. The card was designed and reader programmed onto the computer compatible to it. The objective was to design the proprietary smartcard that holds a less complex circuit but maintains outstanding features. Some parts of a reader operating system were also designed in order to test the designed card. The thesis attempted to implement the design of the smartcard. To make it to the sma11card system, it needed more elaborate designs of commands, front end (analog part for wireless communication) and more computer programming (for Reader operating system) |
