AbstractChanthaburi occupies a significant place in the history of Thailand. However, the historical value did not get the attention it deserves over the past years and many historical sites are starting to decay and losing their interest. Moreover, the traditional revenues coming from fruit and gems are also starting to decline. Other sources of revenue need then to be found to diversify the activities of Chanthaburi and improve the economy on a short and long-term basis. Tourism is a potential activity in this regard. The purpose of this research is then to stop the decaying of the historical remains of a specific area of Chanthaburi, the Banlum Quarter and to propose an urban conservation plan that will be supported by a rehabilitation and redevelopment one that encourages tourism. The study presents a thorough description of the Banlum area under Physical, socioeconomic, tourism aspects. It also brings an insight on future trends. It also gives an analysis of the perceptions of the different stakeholders, focusing on their opinion thanks to a survey. Finally, the research considers alternate scenarios for the development of the area. They are then assessed and an implementation plan is then proposed to achieve the best results
