| Abstract | This research introduces how a company makes a brand name considering sophisticated market environment. The company need to register the brand name trademark to protect its brand name from others abuses. In recent years, the protection of brand names in the Internet environment has become an issue of great concern on domestic and international level. A sharp increase in the use of Internet and recent diversification of its uses have turned domain names into attractive business marks for marketing or offering services beyond their initial function. The expansion of its function has brought into conflict with trademarks. However, many companies especially new entrants in international markets do not know how to protect their brand names well through the trademark law and Internet domain name. There are much misunderstanding between trademark and Internet domain name because there are some similar aspects and some different aspects between them. This research investigates the two realms through case study to give clear understanding. The result of this research shows that there are many differences between the trademarks and domain names. The best method to prevent needless disputes is to take preventive measures in advance before registering names. |
