AbstractThe Lao Brewery Company, Limited (LBC) is a monopolist and state-owned enterprise in the form of join-venture with the foreign investors as its partners: Carlsberg (Hong Kong) and TCC international (Thailand). There are many challenges which are confronting on HRM policy and Implementation in order to satisfy for all parties concerned include the government, partners and its employees. LBC covers about 98 % of market share which is considered to be the reader in the beer industry in Lao PDR. Moreover, the AFTA will be effective in 2008 for all member countries of ASEAN. This will bring a big challenge against the HMR of LBC to continuously keep its market share and to be the competitive advantage on this field of industry. The survey methodology that was used for conducting this research in the forms of the in-dept interview and questionnaires, which were conducted among the directors, managers and some employees as a sample size of the survey. Hence, 120 questionnaires were distributed to the target interviewers, and the return rate is 85.8 %. Therefore, the results of the survey is believable and interested to follow its findings. Based on the results, it could be founded the current situation ofHRM both strong and weak points of LBC. The weak points or problems would be taken into account and to be resolved by the best, economic solutions, which are considered as the strategic alternatives and implementation plan for LBC. By doing so, LBC could be solve its weak points or problems on HRM to improve the performance of employees and to be the competitive advantage against its competitors.
