Abstract | Success in quality improvement requires the acqms1t10n and application of knowledge, relative to the products and processes, in a timely and cost effective manner. Experimentation is necessary to gain or verify knowledge about a product or process and a designed experiment involves a systematic plan of investigation, based on established statistical principles, so that the interpretation of the observations can be defended. This study concerns the implementation and establishment of experimental design using Taguchi approach for the black matrix process in a cathode ray tube manufacturing company. The study has concentrated exclusively on parameter design which is useful in reducing the variability without removing or controlling the causes of variation. In this project, the matrix experiments were designed using orthogonal aiTay and the data was analyzed using the signal to noise ratio. The data analysis is performed by using SPSS for Windows software. Both graphical and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) methods are applied to provide interpretations. The results of experiment are interpreted to determine control factors, signal factors and the optimum condition. The results obtained by the optimum condition are compare with the existing condition and the comparison reveals that the condition suggests by the experiments can lead to quality improvement. As the company strategy to establish quality improvement by applying statistically designed experiments, this analysis makes suggestions for quality improvement and provides systematic reduction of process variability using Taguchi approach to make further improvement. |
