Abstract | The extreme competitiveness of Exploration and Production (E&P) companies to reduce finding and development costs demands and encourages innovative technologies and services. This provides Oilfield Service with a continuous supply of attractive investment opportunities. This industry demand results in new ideas and solutions being implemented and adopted in an unusually brief period. In the initial part, the importance of Supply Chain as a key value driver to reduce the "Total System Cost" has been established. Later an attempt has been made to summa1ize the Key Perfo1mance Indicators (KPI's) in Supply Chain Management. This underscores the importance of better management of logistics processes to control costs and ramp up savmgs. The case study of Schlumberger, an industry leader in Oilfield Service Industry, establish this link of logistics processes and cost savings in its practical operations. The Schlumberger Supply Chain Services (SSCS) and logistics management, in particular, have been discussed to uncover the cost redundancies related to supply chain operations. Later, Schlumberger management implications for the steps taken with respect to Human Resource Management, Communication, Information Technology ,Organization and Customer Focus have been documented to understand the organizational strategy. The research concludes with key issues and implemental recommendations to unleash the power of its supply chain systems. |
