Abstract | This thesis study presents an effective way to solve the production-planning problem of a furniture company in Thailand. Two Linear Programming models are formulated subject to the plant attributes and management policies. The procedures for this problem are divided into two steps. Firstly, the work started with the Linear Programmimg model for medium-range planning was applied to solve for weekly plan. Secondly, Linear Programming model for short-range planning model was applied to solve for daily plan. These procedures are implemented using the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet as the interface, with the optimization software, LINGO 5. Sensitivity analysis was performed with the variation of input parameter and some recommendations were proposed for the management to make production planning more efficient and realistic. |
