AbstractTwo major types of error, systematic errors and random errors influence the accuracy of the machine tool. This study presents the methodology to obtain a compensation method of the systematic error for 5-axis milling machines. It is based on software compensation method. Suitable tuning pieces to determine the error components in A and B axes are discussed in this study. The geometry transform and tool path generation of the selected tuning pieces is presented. All the cutter contact points are measured. The compensation of the systematic errors are discussed and implemented.
