Abstract | E-procurement is an essential step towards a solid digital government. A basic code of government procurement is to provide ample and equal opportunities for participation to interested and qualified bidders for government work, thereby ensuring healthy and effective competition. It not only saves time but also reduces transaction, invento1y costs and facilitates quick Return On Investment. This Research focuses on government e-procurement aspects in 5 of the countries in Asia - China, India, Korea, Philippines and Thailand from the perspective of procurement environment and processes, organization and change, technology, economic and legal issues. Despite few limitations the e-procurement in the governmental systems in China, India, Korea and Philippines are largely successful. Hence it will be beneficial to benchmark a cenh·al system of e-procurement in these forerunners, which could be replicated in the context of Thailand. This research focuses on the impo1iant aspects of e-procurement and builds a framework for translating the experiences from the aforementioned counh·ies to Thailand. |
