AbstractProgrammable Logic Controller is a digitally operating system, designed for use in an industrial environment which offers unique advantages for the operation and maintenance of manufacturing processes in general and in water treatment plants especially. Distributed Control Systems offer unique advantages in the areas of information handling and high-speed networking. An integrated control system can be developed using DCS and PLC teclmologies to combine the advantages of both types of systems. SIMATIC Process Control System (PCS7) is a new generation of control system from SIEMENS that makes it possible to bring the different worlds of PC teclmology, PLC and Distributed Control System together. This work is concerned with the development of distributed process control model for DI_AN water treatment plant in Vietnam using PCS7 software. In this work process is studied and analyzed thoroughly. Main functional modules of PCS7 software such as SIMA TIC S7 Controllers, Continuous Function Chart (CFC), Human Machine Interface (WinCC), System configuration, tag logging, data achieving and alarm management are studied and apply to develop the control model.
