Abstract | Biometric Verification is a means of user authentication by which a person is uniquely identified by the means of distinguished biological traits. The fingerprints of a human being are very affluent in information known as “minutiae” which are basically used to identify points to design an authentication system for fingerprint. The main scope for my project is to implement the “fingerprint recognition system” by taking practical fingerprints using a scanner and performing the extraction and matching process using minutiae points. To accomplish a good minutiae extraction of fingerprints which may vary in quality, the preprocessing step should be applied in the beginning on fingerprints which basically consists of image enhancement and binarization before evaluating the system. Many methods are united to build the system design which comprises of minutiae extracting and matching and to remove the unwanted minutiae points the false minutiae removal method is inherited. For the minutiae matching process the “Alignment-based elastic matching algorithm” is used which finds the match between minutiae points of the input fingerprint and the stored minutiae points of the stored template. At last, the performance evaluation is calculated for the system of all the fingerprints of different age groups in the form of accuracy or match score. |
