Abstract | This study explores the application of Multi Criteria Spatial Decision Support System (MC-SDSS) to urban land use planning, a spatial allocation problem. The city and surrounding areas i.e. peri-urban area require careful planning of future urban growth , between competing land uses. This analysis of allocating land use in suitable sites for sustainable development has been derived using a number of environmental layers and assigning weightings of importance to each layer using a Multiple Criteria Analysis (MCA) approach. To advance the investigations and to develop some thematic layers, remotely sensed data LANDSAT 7 ETM+ and Aerial Photograph are used and analyzed by ENVI and Arc View software. The outcomes of this study discuss site suitability in land use planning for urban development through industrial development and at the same time modernizing the agricultural sector. |
