AbstractDue to the increased human activities, water sources are more and more polluted by a large amount of wastewater that comes from urban and industrial activities. In order to cope with water pollution, different wastewater treatment methods have been developed and implemented. As the wastewater treatment methods are diverse, it would be helpful if there is a database, not paper based but computer based, to store data on the design or the structure of wastewater treatment processes. This study was conducted to develop a database to store the structural data on wastewater treatment processes, such as how many unit processes, connection pipes and sampling point of the plant. A relational database was used to store the complex strncture of wastewater treatment plants. Other issue including determination of the system components, development of the interface for data entry and database-access methods, code, and testing were also performed. The database developed in the present study can be combined with the database to store water quality data of wastewater treatment processes, developed by Tuyet (2003). While this study rather stayed at the development of logical strncture, in the next step, the potential users should be identified and the stronger and easy-to-use user interface should be developed. With further efforts to improve the database, the database has a potential to become a common platform to store and exchange data between researchers in the field.
