AbstractChina publishing, as one of the last protected industries in China, used to be "comfortable" because of the high demand resulting from the country's large population and the restriction to foreign publishers. The whole industry was state owned and every business in it was officially designed. The industry was looked as one of the most important parts contributing to the society stable development. However, this situation had been changed steadily since 1990s. The opening China is innovating and the whole industry began to reconstruct. Especially after China entered the WTO, the reconstructing process is speeding up immediately. The government published the Publishing Regulation to modify the whole industry and had announced to open up the whole distribution channel as the first step. The unprecedented change will terminate the half-century monopoly of State-owned enterprises and give the industry new energy. Meanwhile, the cooperation between domestic and international publishers increased sharply. The copyright purchasing and book translation became to the hot topic as the western culture is getting known gradually. This report will focus on analyzing the impacts of the WTO entry on China publishing, in terms of the international trade, and try to analyse and provide a spotlight referenced specific business opportunities and practical strategies of international publishing trade from the corporate aspect, both for international one and domestic one.
