AbstractThe area of packaging and board technology is gammg its remarkable values as this technology is grooming day by day. As long as the time is passing the recycling and reuse of the products of all the technology are gaining their values. As far as the packaging and board technology is concerned, this technology has also shown a significant role in the field of recycling and reuse. Concerning this, Linerboards are having their importance in this very specific field of recycling. But the recycled fibers, because of their less strength properties as compared to the virgin fibers need a lot of research in this regard. This research was perfonned on the basis of above-mentioned problem to see effect of any appropriable structure for the test-liner to enhance the compression strength in accordance with other strength properties. Japanese OCC were used in slush form for the proceeding of this research, emphasis was given on the structure properties especially formation. Hand sheet were made at different consistency level to see the effect of formation on the compression strength in relation to the other strength properties, Making of one layer, two layer and three layer structure with presence and absence of fines were studied, which shows the importance that recycled fines gives rise to compression strength and Consistency has direct effect on compression strength. Starch was added to the furnish which shows significant increase in compression strength, Retention aid was added at 0.05% and 0.1 % as OD at 2% starch addition which does not show any appreciable effect on compression strength. Pressurized drainage gives slight increament in compression strength at 40kPa pressure but the DDJ RP .M gives tremendous increase in the compression strength, this area needs a lot of research to be done. Two layer structures is the best possible solution for compression strength, fines distribution was studied by going tlu·ough fines in the middle fines at the top and bottom and fines at the middle and top, 1 % starch solution was also sprayed between the two ply, Compression strength was maximum for the fines in the middle and the top. Refining and wet pressing also shows densify sheet structure and add up to compression strength.
