AbstractForeign direct investment is very much a debated issue or a subject. There are many positive and negative aspects about it. But it is increasingly becoming popular through out the nations in the world. This shows that countries attitudes towards it are changing in its favour. Globalization has made it more mobile. Firms can produce in their own respective countries and exp011 their products. But it is not the usual practice with the big firms called Multinational corporations who are usually the source of foreign direct investment. They diversify their business by investing in other countries. The reasons for diversification are many according to different experts in this field. The research studied the situations in Bhutan to see if there exist favourable conditions to attract foreign investment. These conditions are based on the framework developed by United Nations Cooperation for Trade and Development. The output from this study resulted in a country SWOT analysis. Finally recommendations are provided to overcome the weaknesses and threats for investing in Bhutan.
