Abstract | Supply Chain Management or SCM is one method which organizations can plan and control their series of activities that aim to reduce the total system cost and at same the time satisfy the customer demand. In the past few years, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) has been gaining lot of attention by many organizations since it gives many benefits to companies in short time period. In this research, a VMI system with one vendor who manufactures products to fulfill the demand of two retailers is examined, specifically for slow-moving items. For the system to be more realistic, the demands of the retailers are assumed to be stochastic. The formulated model is used to help determine the cycle length and delivery quantities to the retailers, so as to minimize the expected inventory cost of the supply chain. Sensitivity analysis and numerical experiments are conducted in order to analyze the effect on the optimal solutions when the model base parameters changes. |
