Abstract | Until recently the tourism industry virtues have been acclaimed as a "soft industry", presenting the advantage of rapidly generating profits and employment against rather lower investments and limited environmental damage, compared to other industries. However, as well as for other industries, there has been a global growing concern for the last twenty years about the negative impact that could be caused by tourism despite its good economic performances. This research study precisely allows the reader to make out how qualitative imperatives such as social and environmental performance can be and have been integrated in the reflection and actions for the development of the tourism activity, at all geographical and responsibility levels, through the implementation of the concept of sustainable tourism. The particular approach of public-private partnership is studied. The study results in recommendations on how to implement better the concept of sustainable tourism in the future. |
