Abstract | The Glass Ceiling is an invisible barrier which holds back many women and minorities from fulfilling their goals within their professional careers. This research study highlights key points and gives an analysis of the Glass Ceiling as a gender issue in the United States of America and in Europe. The gender gap, the wage gap, the family issue, the need of mentors and the limits of the Glass Ceiling are key points investigated. A variety of perspectives are also included. Recommendations on how to avoid this discrimination are provided. Even after extensive surveys for gender differences in age, education, sector, industry and occupation, it appears that the Glass Ceiling persists to a considerable extent all over the world, even in the United States of America which is a step ahead. The results suggest that some women are breaking through the Glass Ceiling but that a fair chance at achieving success within the workplace for everyone regardless at gender is not yet a common occurrence and that the gender paradox will take a long time to disappear. |
