Abstract | Risk is very often seen as something to avoid by all means but when appropriately managed
within the framework of Project Risk Management, it sometimes reveals unexpected
corporate opportunities. The research examines which challenges need to be overcome to
achieve this outcome: first, which preconditions are required by the people involved in the
management of project risks; then, when such prerequisites are met, how those people deal
with field difficulties inherent to PRM. Many of those hardships are recurrent from one
project to another; this is why they can be dealt more efficiently if a workable and normalized
PRM is settled within the company. The research also provides this framework and enhances,
when possible, the role of the people facing the challenges of its implementation. It is made
up of successive phases which need to be consistently reviewed and adapted in order to
remain a practical tool: PR awareness, PR Identification, PR assessment, PR analysis and
handling and PR controlling (feedback). Such a framework is workable if PRM's specific
impediments inside the company are minimized. |
