AbstractThe automotive sector is highly fragmented and the competition is tough. Some big companies are trying to monopolize the business but the evolving context makes it more difficult and challenging. One of the major evolutions these companies would have to face are the changes among the value chain and especially in term of logistics. This research study was conducted to gather a deeper understanding of the automotive sector and to understand how the companies are facing all these challenges, by focusing on one company, Valeo. Valeo is a car equipment manufacturer and is one of the leaders in its market. Valeo has set up some new objectives: be one of the fifth ones in the next 5 years. This challenge implies some changes and improvements in the way the Valeo supply chain is actually organized. By this analysis, we were able to make some recommendations to Valeo for further improvement. One of the major challenges they are facing is the reorganisation of their stocking center Breuilpont. In this case they can improve the material uses and the management of inventory. A second big issue is the place of Valeo on this business. Today Valeo is quite isolated and we can advise us to think of alliances or acquisition to strengthen the company. Some recent challenges have emerged notably with the environmental issue which is taking more and more importance on companies and which can help them to save money and time but also with the development of counterfeit products. Valeo is losing money and business with this phenomenon and some solutions here can also be applied for reducing the damages.
