Abstract | Improving construction productivity has the potential to significantly reduce overall cost and delays, and improve the quality of a project. However, this concept is not widely Known among Cambodian construction practitioners. Therefore, the assessment on the on-site personnel's perceptions of productivity issues is the main objective of the study. Data gathering was conducted through one-on-one interviews with Cambodian on-site management. Sixty-one engineers and fifty-two technicians were interviewed with structured questionnaires from thirty-three small and medium construction sites in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The descriptive statistics and hypothesis tests are used to analyze the collected data. The analysis shows that significant difference exists between the perceptions of productivity definitions of the Cambodian on-site engineers and the technicians. However, there was significant agreement found between their perceptions of the productivity factor rankings. The study indicates that majority of Cambodian practitioners, especially the technicians, have inadequate fundamental knowledge of construction productivity issues. Therefore, the top management needs to play an imp01iant role to improve their employees' Knowledge. Comparisons of the same issues between the opinions of Cambodian, Thai and Vietnamese on-site engineers show that some significant disagreements found between them. |
