Abstract | Nowadays the environmental issue is becoming more and more important in our society. But more to the fact that taking care of the environment is a duty, a company can also earn benefits by gaining competitive advantages. Therefore the companies try to integrate this dimension in their core business strategy. To achieve this willingness, many environmental tools were developed those last past years. However integrate an environmental strategy into its business strategy seems to be characterized more by public relations than real commitment. Moreover the environmental sustainability remains largely separated from the traditional core business strategies and management systems. Then the Norton & Kaplan's Balanced Scorecard appears like a strategic management tool which can be extended towards a Sustainable Balanced Scorecard and thus integrate corporate sustainability into core management systems. By this way a company is able to deal with both dimensions: business and environment. |
