AbstractIn Mongolia, the Government is promoting micro financing in order to finance small business and to improve the lives of individuals. Since 1999, quite a few financial intermediaries have been founded and some individuals and their companies have become familiar with these services and products. Non banking financial institutions have been newly introduced with a special design i.e. activities of non banking financial institutions in Mongolia have been slightly altered from those of other countries. CAPMON is one of those non banking financial institutions and it has been executing financial services since 2001. CAPMON's profit fell last year and it realized that the market is shrinking in Ulaanbaatar where most of financial intermediaries are located, therefore, the company needed to review its marketing and business strategy as well as a new its market opportunity in other areas. To collect data for this research, customers' questionnaire, company's questionnaire as well as in-depth interviews were developed and distributed. All the collected data was analyzed in order to review current situations of NBFis' activities, consumer behaviour on obtaining a loan from NBFis and CAPMON's performance. These recommendations were written for CAPMON in order for them to develop their marketing and business strategy for consumer loans in Bayankhongor province. The main recommendation is concerned that CAPMON should have a differentiated business strategy on consumer loans and other features for a consumer loan package.
