Abstract | Cross-Cultural Management deals with organization management practice across cultures. It point out the challenges and opportunities which arise from increasing internationalization. The growing importance of world business creates a demand for managers sophisticated in international management and skilled at working with people from other countries. This research attempts to find out the key cultural difference between the Korean executives and Myanmar employees in business environment that seems to affect the Korean companies doing joint venture business in Myanmar and mnning joint production with a state owned plywood factory. The focus is on a number of cultural values affect on management of Korean investors, Myanmar partner and subordinates. It suggests (1) ways to deal with difficulties resulting from different cultures and (2) ways to facilitate the cooperation and interactions between Korea and Myanmar businessmen. This research shows how Korean executives enhance the productivity across the cultural gaps and improve productivity. The analysis indicates that most problems and conflicts are mainly due to different cultures in the Korean Myanmar joint venture firm and can be reduced by mutual understanding of each other's value. |
