Abstract | This study attempted to identify opportunities and challenges of the business environment in Shanghai, China, where the geographic location, infrastructure development, workforce structure, consumer purchasing power and other features are very favorable for international investors. At first, the study goes over some theoretical framework defining the important elements of business environment. The study continues to examine these elements in Shanghai which influence the economic performance comparing with the national standards, continuing with model analysis and introduction of major industries followed with case studies of several successful firms trying to identify their key success factors. This study also aims to identify the new development trends of Shanghai's competitive business environment providing opportunities and challenges for international business organizations, especially in the selected business sectors. This research study will also provide some recommendation for foreign and domestic investors at the ending part. |
