Abstract | The Health Care industry is one industry that always needs to be up-to-date following the path of technological advance and bio-technological development. The Thai medical industry is always there to join medical conferences confident that their standards enable them to be a benchmark and be compatible with one another within the world class physicians. Since then with the demand of private hospitals increasing together with the suppo1ting policies from the Thai government on developing Thai medical industry to become the "Medical hub of Asia", private hospitals have to be rigorous in strategic implementation. To work hand in hand with the tourism industry, Board of Investment, Export Ministry, and leading private hospitals in Thailand can attract more foreign patients and serve them. This research paper aims to analyze and identify strategies for the increasing the number of foreign patients of Bangkok Hospital, one of the leading private hospitals in Thailand which is the biggest and fastest growing hospital. The Taksin Government has proclaimed Thailand to become as a "Health Tourism" destination and as such, private hospitals' strategies and competencies are important drivers to evaluate the effectiveness of this positioning. To increase the number of foreign patients, Bangkok hospitals adopted various strategies which the researcher found very interesting to explore and learn. The survey questionnaires were broadly categorized into three parts, namely on, strategic decisions, strategic management competencies and the process of becoming an international entity. The researcher has used these survey questionnaires in order to analyze the data and infer the results. It has been found that a vast majority of respondents strongly agreed to those attributes in the survey questionnaires, which proved that Bangkok Hospital is moving toward becoming a truly international one. The hospital management team has already started implementing plans and policies in this regard, in order to take the firm to a higher growth trajectory in a highly competitive environment. |
