Abstract | In 2001, after more than 15 years' tough negotiations with WTO members, China finally joined WTO. China's WTO accession is a big issue to Chinese society, which will bring big impacts to each industry. Engineering consulting industry is young industry in China, which has only been developed for 25 years. It provides a wide range of consulting service to Chinese construction industry. Engineering consulting industry is a very important industry due to China's big investment on infrastructure. China's WTO commitment agreed that China's engineering consulting market will gradually open to foreign countries. After the interim period, it will be fully open to foreigners. The new business environment will impact Chinese engineering consulting companies on technical level and management level. How the company face this change? This research is an effort to examine the impacts of China's WTO accession to Chinese engineering consulting industry. It demonstrates the current engineering market in China, compares the engineering consulting industry in China and Foreign countries, and analyzes the impacts of WTO accession to engineering consulting. Also by SWOT analysis, it brings forward some possible strategies to the future development of Chinese engineering consulting industry. |
