Abstract | With the continuous increase of electricity demand as a critical energy for industry, agriculture, service and living condition, electric system expansion planning becomes more and more important nowadays. 500kV power system of Vietnam is expanding. Many 500kV lines and substations are going to be constructed, especially in the South area. 500kV transmission system should be a backbone of power pool to be ready for a near future competitive market. Better planning for 500kV transmission system for better operation and management becomes necessary. To examine a transmission plan in technical aspect, especially 500kV voltage level, power flow and transient stability must be calculated to ensure the ability of the system to supply power adequately and securely. Power System Stabilizers (PSS) is used to enhance transient stability ability as its simpleness. When network projects are executed, they are sometimes postponed due to some reason such as lack of capital investment, delayed equipment manufacturing and so on. The study on network operation in case of any delay in commissioning of substation or transmission line is also performed to recommend which projects must be put into operation on time and which one can be postponed |
