AbstractThis study is concerned with development of automatic stitching system for doll industry. The objectives of this study are to design the mechanical part, to design electrical part, to formulate the PLC program using CX Programmer software and to build the automatic doll hair rooting machine prototype. The system can produce rooted hair in high speed and maintain the hair consumption in order to increase speed, efficiency and quality. With using the system, accident that caused by the needle can be eliminated and operator finger bent because of rotating the head in the manual rooting process can be reduced. This system does not cover the entire stitching position problem. This system just only cover the inside stitching (crown rooting) problem. This automatic doll hair rooting system used stepper motor as the main drive for manipulator system and pneumatic system as the drive of the hair gripper and air blowing system. For this study, the programmable logic controller, OMRON CQM 1H, is used to control the system function. Cycle time for this system, which is the time for stitch the inside stitching (crown rooting) is 50 second (excluded the load and unload time).
