| Abstract | Industry cluster acts as the dynamic, driving force in local, regional and state economies. It has been observed over time that in successful industrial clusters interconnections and spillovers within a cluster often influence productivity growth more than does the scale of individual firms. West Bengal was able to rejuvenate its industrialization process after a span of more than two decades. This time one of the main factors of the industrial resurgence was owing to the IT and ITES industries. The study attempts to understand the government policy, infrastructure and the quality of human resource in the state of West Bengal which are the main driving factors towards the growth of IT Industry cluster in West Bengal. Based on the objectives of the study, a study framework was created through two levels of analysis: firstly, an understanding of the issues through secondary information sources; secondly, through a personal interview of a few select individuals. Based on the analysis of the study, suitable recommendations have been suggested to strengthen and increase the competitiveness of the IT industry cluster in West Bengal |
