AbstractThe study proposes the concept of novel design of catadioptric stereoscopic camera system with use of plane mirrors and single conventional camera. The geometric aspect of design is focused in detail with reference of practical method for computing measurement range of camera system with different cases. Then the use of imaging system for metrology purposes implies the necessity to calibrate or check the system. System is calibrated so as to the uncertainties in system parameters will be minimum practical observation of these aspects is noted. Next attempt is to implement system to estimate 3D measurement by triangulation method. Two different approach of triangulation viz. Midpoint method and Gold standard method are implemented and effectiveness of them is observed. The work concluded with statistical analysis of error in 3D measurement and use of laser tracker for it. The results of work demonstrate the viability of approach.
