Abstract | The road infrastructure in Cambodia still remains in poor conditions. Cambodia's economy, especially tourism, is now growing and the need for adequate infrastructure is crucial to develop international trade with the neighboring countries and to promote tourism. This research study assesses the privatization scheme in the road infrastructure in Cambodia. Using the Political, Economical, Economical and Technological (PEST) model, the macro environment and the road infrastructure will be analyzed. This study provides the issues that Cambodia faces to develop the road infrastructure, as well as the barriers that the private sector has to be confronted to enter the Cambodian market. Indeed, as the resources to develop the infrastructure are limited, the Cambodian government is willing to promote private sector. How Cambodia can best promote privatization in road infrastructure? In order to best promote privatization, the government will attract more private participation infrastructure in improving the legislation framework, transparency in government agencies and the financial sector in order to attract private companies. The main private opportunities for road infrastructure development are given for rehabilitation and maintenance projects. Some progress has been made and will continue to develop. As a result, greater opportunities for private road companies would be available regarding to the positive development of the road sector in Cambodia. Finally, this research study will provide relevant information about Cambodian road infrastructure and the role of privatization in infrastructure development |
