AbstractIn order to reduce the design time and avoid errors in designing, this thesis attempts to develop the automatic product design algorithm. The algorithm was developed to assist the designer make the appropriate design. The designer only input the parameters then the program will generate the drawings automatically. The different alternatives to simulate machining by multi-axis milling are presented. The geometric model consists of a drinking glass with a spiral of revolution inside to separate multi- liquids. This part will be produced by plastic injection molding process. The manufacturing problems are focused on the core insert needed for the plastic injection mold to produce this part. Some ways to produce this core insert out of a single piece or out of split parts are considered. For each method of manufacturing, the accuracy (especially undercut) and surface quality, machining time of each method are compared.
